It complies both with the DOC’s environmental standards and those of an independent auditor’s safety standards. The DOC label shows visitors that the business pays fees to DOC to support conservation in New Zealand. This gives clients confidence and peace-of-mind that the local business provides only high quality, safe, and enjoyable experiences.
If you have more people, I recommend splitting the hiking trip up into multiple sessions. Queenstown offers a 1.5-hour boat cruise that takes you to Lake Wakatipu. As you travel to the end of the lake, you can see stunning lakeside homes, a variety of bird life, Kawarau Dam, and the magnificent scenery that surrounds Queenstown. Get unobstructed views from the sundeck or stay warm in the heated cabin, and have the option to purchase drinks from the onboard bar. Level 3 and 4trips include full-day mixed hikes on most days with steeper trails, and greater elevation gain or loss. Level 1 and 2trips require short hikes (1-3 hours) on well-maintained trails. There is minimal elevation gain or loss.
